Tuberculosis Vaccine Clinic in Toronto

Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious lung disease. You are unlikely to get tuberculosis unless you are exposed to someone with the disease for an extended period of time. Health Care or aid workers may need to take precautions to protect themselves in parts of the world where TB is common. If your immune system is weak because of another illness, such as diabetes or HIV, you may be at greater risk.

WHAT CAN I DO?

  • If your work or activities will expose you to people with active tuberculosis.
  • Have a tuberculosis test before you leave and after you return. If the result from the first test is negative and the second test is positive, you should consult your doctor for further testing.
  • Get a protective mask (an N-95 respiratory) to protect you at work.

Vaccines don't promise absolute protection, but they do reduce the risk. Some people with specific health problems may need extra protection. Talk to the travel doctor's at our travel medical clinic for more information about the Tuberculosis vaccines before you travel.

To get your shot for TUBERCULOSIS vaccination call the Toronto Travel Vaccine and Immunization Clinic at: 416-461-2419.
