What is rotavirus?

Rotavirus is a virus that causes diarrhea, vomiting and fever, mostly in babies and young children. The diarrhea can be severe, and lead to dehydration.

ROT-1 is a vaccine the protects children against rotavirus.  ROT-1 is given to infants as a series of 2 doses by mouth at the age of 2 months and then 4 months of age. This vaccine cannot be given after 8 months of age.
