Dengue Fever Vaccine Clinic in Toronto
Dengue Fever is a viral disease that is transmitted by mosquitoes. It starts with a high fever and a bad headache. Other symptoms are joint and muscle pain, nausea and vomiting. A rash often appears 3-5 days after the other symptoms. Most people recover in a few days, but a few develop a more serious disease called dengue hemorrhagic fever. People with dengue hemorrhagic fever may have bruising, nosebleeds and internal bleeding. It can be fatal. The disease is most dangerous for children under 15 years of age and immunocompromised people. Mosquitoes carry the virus that causes dengue fever. The virus is common in the tropics and sub-tropics. Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific are the most likely places to get dengue fever, but it is becoming more common south and Central America and the Caribbean.
